The education system of Alta du Toit School differs considerably from mainstream education. Promotion to the next phase depends on the learner's age, his/her emotional development and his/her progress.

Emphasis is on learning selfcare skills, socially acceptably behaviour and communication. Some children learn to write, read and reckon if they have the abilities. Mostly education is focussed on teaching learners the skills they will need in everyday life.
